Night Lights

[12:5,2,3,2] Okay, the composition wouldn't be terrible if there wasn't a giant ponderosa in the middle of the frame, but alas.... The main point of this was less about getting a pretty pic and more about working on technique. Donna was going to be getting home and I wanted to capture her headlights illuminating the road as she drove up. There were three small hurdles: her headlights should properly expose the road, not totally overexpose it and blow it out; the rest of the valley, in near pitch black in the middle of the night, should be nicely exposed in the same shot; and, oh yea, her's was the only car to come up the road in an hour --- I was only gonna get one chance to get the picture. After a bit of math I settled on a four-and-a-half minute exposure at 80 ASA and f/6.3. I tripped the shutter just after her car turned onto the dirt road a mile away. Vi-ola. (Kind of fun that you can see the turn signal start blinking a little before she gets to the driveway.)
