Western Scrub Jay

July 13, 2017 -- Not nearly as prolific as the Steller's Jays in the yard, but there's usually a couple around everyday. We made a list a few months ago of all the bird species we'd seen in the yard over the last four or five years. Came to just over 70. We've probably seen another one to two dozen species within a mile or so of the house. Pretty crazy that more than 10% of all the bird species you can see anywhere in the US, from Florida to the Aleutians, have passed just through one yard in the Colorado hills. Amazing what's going on out there when you pay attention.
